In April 2007, Foxy appeared in a television advert which has been criticised by many. It showed Foxy going about his business – which seemed to consist of little more than walking around with an air of aristocratic superiority – and being smiled at by ladies who, for one reason or another, don’t speak with him or to each other. At the end of the advert Foxy is sitting in a ladies hairdressers, and he is joined by a man, who for some reason also likes hanging around those places. “What’s going on here, Foxy?” the man asks. “They’re saving their chat for foxybingo.com,” Foxy replies.
This commercial has been nominated as one of the worst TV adverts of all time, mostly because Foxy comes across as a bit strange and because the payoff at the end doesn’t make sense (putting Foxy and the man almost anywhere other than a ladies hairdressers would have helped a lot). That said, no publicity is bad publicity, and the ad did succeed in getting Foxy Bingo talked about.
